The Princeton Summer Journalism Program

For more info check out: www.princeton.edu/~sjpSee attachment. The Princeton University Summer Journalism Programwelcomes about 20 students every year to PrincetonUniversity's campus for a 10-day, all-expenses-paidseminar. Our participants are sophomores and juniorsfrom high schools across the Northeast and Chicago.Professional journalists teach seminars on news, sports, opinion and arts journalism, as well astelevision reporting. Princeton admissions officers,Princeton Review representatives and Princeton alumniinstruct seminars on applying to college.

At the end of the program, students put out their veryown newspaper: The Princeton Summer Journal

Our goal is to diversify the world of collegejournalism -- and, ultimately, the world ofprofessional journalism -- by energizing students fromlow-income backgrounds about the possibility ofattending elite universities and working for theircollege papers. Our students have gone on to eliteschools such as Stanford, the University ofPennsylvania, Cornell, Williams and NYU. And thisyear, one of our students enters Princeton's Class of2010.
